Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The hazardous substances we can store include, in particular, flammable or combustible liquids and solids, toxic or corrosive substances, oxidising materials, water-polluting goods, explosive and potentially explosive preparations, as well as special resources. The latter may include aerosol packaging, pressurised gas containers, or batteries and lithium-ion accumulators.
We classify hazardous substances according to the hazard classes defined in TRGS 510 and work in line with the VCI storage class concept. We are authorised to store hazardous substances in the following storage classes (LGK):
2B – Pressurised gas containers (aerosol cans/spray cans)
3 – Flammable liquids
6.1B – Non-combustible, acutely toxic hazardous substances of category 1 and 2 / highly toxic substances
6.1D – Non-combustible, acutely toxic hazardous substances of category 3 / toxic or chronically harmful substances
8A – Combustible corrosive substances
8B – Non-combustible corrosive substances
10 – Flammable liquids outside storage class 3
11 – Flammable solids
12 – Non-flammable liquids

Our hazardous substance warehouse is divided into 14 fire compartments, each with a maximum area of 1,200 m². For rapid response, the installed extinguishing system holds 70 tonnes of CO2 in reserve. In the event of a fire, the affected fire compartment must be evacuated within 50 seconds. After this very short pre-warning period, extinguishing and containment measures begin.
For early fire detection, a smoke suction system with two-detector dependency is installed. In addition, gas detectors identify and report any volatile substances if necessary. Loading and unloading operations are carried out using safe man-down reach trucks. Extensive collection trays are installed beneath the aisles where liquids are stored. In addition, underground retention systems with a capacity of 1,200 m³ protect surrounding areas from potential environmental damage in the event of an incident.
Specifically trained staff are, without question, essential for the handling and storage of hazardous substances. That is why our employees undergo regular training and are thoroughly familiar with the requirements of hazardous goods logistics. Our team of experts knows exactly what they are transporting and how to handle it responsibly.
We ensure the safety of the surrounding environment and the operational area through comprehensive organisational measures and specialised safety technology systems.

Whenever hazardous substances are stored or transported, specific regulations must be observed. These include, in particular, the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), TRGS 510, the Major Accidents Ordinance (Störfallverordnung), and the Federal Water Act (WHG). In addition, appropriate structural and organisational fire protection and occupational safety must be ensured. The relevant regulations are subject to continuous change, which adds further complexity to correct hazardous substance logistics. Place this challenge confidently in our hands. Our hazardous substance warehouse is approved under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG – 12th BImSchV, Major Accidents Ordinance). It meets all regulatory, structural, and organisational requirements.
